Delightful Details

For those of you who know me, you know I love a good wedding. And nothing is better than the small, DIY details that make the day really unique. Men don't get to add a whole lot of style into their look, and that's what I love about these boutonnieres - you can get an idea about each of these guys' styles just from their accessories. (Ok, I realize that a woman was likely in charge of wardrobe, but I like to think they had some say...)

Happy Weekend :)

Green with envy

My friend Matt and I went running through some back trails the other day, and among the deer and rattlesnake we encountered (don't worry, we screamed and ran away like you're supposed to), there were wildflowers and tall grass overflowing everywhere. That's one of my favorite things about Spring - one minute everything is brittle and kind of, well, dead, and the next it's lush and green. I am seeing lovely shades of my favorite color all over the place, and I think it's really the mascot shade of the season - it's all about life, renewal, and a sort of warm tranquility. So enjoy it while it lasts, cause I have a feeling June gloom and all its lameness is on it's way, right in time for my Birthday (Debbie Downer style)!

I want it, I need it, I have to have it - all things awesome

Since I haven't posted anything in awhile, my brain has been overflowing with all the cool things I've been wanting to share with you. So instead of a bunch of Saturday posts, I decided just to combine them into one entry of things that, well, I enjoy. So, um, enjoy!

New Beginnings

No, I haven't forgotten. In fact, I've been itching to blog for the past week and a half, and finally found a quiet morning to update you all about the latest happenings going on around here. My sister, friends and I had a grand opening party for our summer boutique, The Collective, last weekend, and it was such fun! Thank you to all my friends and everyone who came out, shopped, and celebrated with us! I wish I had taken more photos but we were having too much fun. I have a feeling it's going to be a great summer before I head off to school :)

Have a great weekend!

Showering With Love

This past weekend I hosted a baby shower for my friend Rachael and her bun in the oven, Penelope. It was a great day, and totally worth the months of planning and preparation! Thankfully I had my mom and friend Brit there to help with all the little details. We went with a whimsical theme - birds, flowers, and all things sweet. My favorite part? The sweet shop table of course.

It was also Mother's Day this weekend, and I couldn't have pulled off my first big party without the help and guidance of the craftiest woman I know, mama Katz! Love ya girl!

I'd like to stumble across

I've been feeling some stress lately (mostly good things), and I'm trying to slow down a little to just enjoy life right now. The creativity in these photos makes my heart light and I can feel some of the stress drifting away...
Can you imagine coming across this bird installation on a morning walk? It'd definitely put a little spring in my step.
These vellum mobiles are crazy, in a good way.
This reminds me of that [old] cartoon, Sword in the Stone, when Merlin's books and spoons and cups are flying around the room.

I would smile up every step.

I love every thing about this photo.

Room(s) of the Day

I'm always imagining what my dream house will look like (one day), and I'm pretty sure it will have a room like this one

And this breakfast nook

(I have a thing about chalkboard walls.)

Oh, and this workspace

What does your dream room look like?

Before & After

For the past few weeks, some friends, my sister and I have been working to open a small boutique in town. The Collective will feature handbags, vintage clothing, bathing suits, and my knitwear. I'm really excited to tell you that we'll be opening at the end of this week!

The space used to be a video rental store, complete with old carpet, a sky-themed blue and white ceiling, and even one of those classy curtained-off rooms. Needless to say, there was a lot of work to be done, and we have some crazy 'before and after' photos to prove it. Which brings me to today's post. One of my favorite blogs, DesignSponge, features the most creative before and after photos that constantly inspire me to take on big projects. If you haven't added this blog to your list of daily reads, do. In the meantime, here are a few of my favorites

A homely couch gets a touch of paint and some new fabric...

Seriously!? How hard can that be?

Or a set of old drawers...

to an amazing table.

How about this bland porch...

Even the sunlight is attracted to this space :)

Rusty and old...

Rich and revived.

Uptight...

Modern and feisty!
